Sea of My Soul (World Premiere)

In this world premiere by choreographer Patrick Corbin, composer Thomas Wilbrandt’s highly creative modernization of themes by Vivaldi is a perfect match for Corbin’s choreographic talent. Corbin, a former member of the Joffrey Ballet and a leading dancer for the Paul Taylor Dance Company for many years, draws on his roots in both ballet and modern dance to choreograph his third work for CoCCB.

Rhapsody in Blue (World Premiere)

This world premiere marks CoCCB’s second collaboration with former NYCB soloist Alexandre Proia. This pas de trois is set to one of Gershwin’s most famous classical-jazz compositions.

Just Like That

Two hapless young men encounter an alluring woman in this amusing and sexy work set to a hip-hip version of Richard Adler and Jerry Ross’s “Whatever Lola Wants (Lola Gets.).” Choreography by Joo Hwan Cho.

Echoes of Innocence (World Premiere)

This intriguing and provocative look at the lost innocence of childhood, choreographed by Charles Anderson, is set to a haunting score by Ingram Marshall.

Hush (Excerpts)

Charles Anderson’s graceful exploration of movement quality, choreographed to the sublime music by Bobbi McFerrin and Yo-Yo Mah, rides the edge between modern dance and ballet.

OreMi Mentoring Program Benefit

October 20, 2006 2:14 pm

Last weekend I photographed a benfit for the OreMi Mentoring Program at Yoshi’s in Oakland. OreMi is a mentoring program for kids who have a parent in the federal prison system and is provided by Family Support Services of the Bay Area.

The benefit was really well done…great sushi and jazz music by Ray Obedio with Mambo Caribe and Ms. Faye Carol with the San Francisco Medicine Ball Band. Overall a very positive way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Photos from the event are here.
